The suburb is also at the age where the original ducted heating and the original switchboard are both approaching the end. Pre-cooling the house through the middle of the day while the array is generating, rather than starting the system at 6pm, converts energy you would have exported at under 5 cents into avoided imports at 30 to 45 cents. Combined with a heat pump hot water service on a daytime timer, it is usually enough to justify going above 6.6kW here where the roof allows.

RCDs and the board upgrade question
